The buying decision

The A231 is a candidate for a contained room, provided its operating speed, filter supply and support terms suit the job. A room called a bedroom is not automatically a good match. Measure its area, account for connected space, and decide whether you can use the required airflow at night.

The earlier review treated room labels and simplicity as enough evidence. This correction uses the manufacturer A230/A231 manual, revision 06 . It covers both models; verify A231 on the actual unit and offer rather than relying on a similar photograph.

The bedroom trade-off

The manual says Sleep Mode disables the air-quality indicator, selects minimum fan speed and initially disables PlasmaWave, which can be re-enabled. That is useful control information. We have no separate Sleep Mode CADR or measured bedside noise result from this review.

Do not assume that a lower fan speed can serve the full published room area at the same rate. If your decision depends on rapid cleaning while remaining quiet, obtain speed-specific performance evidence or choose a product for which that information is available.

Auto Mode responds to the unit’s sensor; it is not an assurance that every pollutant or source has been controlled. A purifier also does not replace removing an active smoke, moisture or contamination source.

Ownership checks that change the recommendation

Check replacement-filter supply and delivered cost for the exact SKU before buying. The manual gives an approximate filter interval, but the environment and replacement indicator matter; do not turn that into a guaranteed yearly running cost. Follow the supplied cleaning instructions rather than washing the all-in-one filter.

Revision 06 gives a two-year limited warranty for the stated region and says there is no extended repair or replacement service or spare-parts availability afterward. Confirm the applicable terms and manual with the seller, particularly for old stock or a different market. Filter consumables and repair parts are separate questions.

Those support limits make a low initial price only part of the decision. If you want a serviceable appliance over a long ownership period, establish that route before choosing this model.

  • Match the room and intended fan speed rather than a broad “bedroom” label.

We have not established quiet-speed CADR, real-room particle removal, noise at the bed, current filter prices, seller quality or long-term reliability. The recommendation depends on the room and the evidence above, not the earlier generic strong/weak room-type table.
